The Tenant Advice Loop: Why Getting Help Feels Like Running in Circles

Disclaimer:Tenant Support UK is not a law firm and does not provide regulated legal advice. All content on this website is for general informational purposes only, based on publicly available legal guidance and personal experience. If you need legal advice tailored to your situation, please consult a qualified solicitor or a trusted housing advice service.

If you’ve ever tried to get help from Citizens Advice or Shelter as a struggling tenant, you probably know the loop too well:

You call Citizens Advice → They tell you to speak to Shelter.

You call Shelter → They tell you to speak to Citizens Advice.

You… scream silently and wonder if anyone actually helps tenants anymore.

Let’s be real, these are amazing charities with dedicated staff, but when it comes to urgent housing problems like eviction threats, disrepair, or deposit issues, too many tenants are left passed around without real solutions. You’re told to write letters you don’t know how to write, fill forms with no guidance, and “wait for a callback” that never comes.

This is the loop. And it needs to be called out.

I’m not here to bash anyone. I’m here because I’ve been in that loop and I’ve broken out of it.

I started Renter’s Rights Mate to be the support I couldn’t find when I needed it the most.

Here, you don’t need to “prove” your stress level. You don’t need to upload income statements. You don’t get sent in circles. You just get real help.

Whether it’s:

Writing a solid letter that actually gets a landlord’s attention,

Understanding your eviction notice,

Or just having someone who speaks your language and doesn’t throw legal jargon at you…

Why I Do This: The Gap Between Urgency and Support

Let’s be honest, Legal Aid sounds great in theory, but try getting it when you actually need it. Between strict eligibility checks, limited solicitor availability, and long waits, many renters are left without the support they deserve. The same goes for Citizens Advice, Shelter, and other big-name organisations. They do important work, but they’re often stretched thin. You get bounced from one to the other, handed leaflets, or told to wait for callbacks that never come.

When you’re facing eviction, battling disrepair, or trying to recover your deposit, you don’t have time to wait.

That’s why I decided to step in. I’ve been through it all. I know what it feels like to be ignored, overwhelmed, and alone in the system. So now, I dedicate my time—all of it—to help people like you. I won’t ask for pay slips or proof of earnings before even hearing your story. I’ll listen, support, and help you write, fight, and move forward.

Because sometimes, what people really need is a human, not another form to fill in.

I’m here for that. Because I am that tenant. And I know how bad it gets.

If you’ve been sent back and forth more times than you can count, you’re not the problem.

The system is. And now you’ve found someone outside the system who gets it.
